FRAN WOYTEK, DIRECTOR OF FAITH FORMATION

Fran WoytekFran Woytek has been the coordinator of the RCIA program since 1994.  She came to Mt. ST. Peter from St. Mary Church in New Kensington where she had been employed as a teacher in that parish school until it closed in May 1994.  Initially, Fran taught Math and religion at Mt. St. Peter School in addition to her responsibilities with the RCIA.  During this time, she also taught the ninth grade Hebrew Scriptures class at St. Joseph High School in Natrona Heights and, in the summer of 995, began a week-long Vacation Bible School for parish children.  When Sister Mary Conrad retired from her position here as Director of Religious Education, Fran assumed Sister's former responsibilities.  Ultimately, Fran resigned from both teaching positions and turned her attentions to her new ministry as Director of Faith Formation for the parish.

Currently, Fran's responsibilities include the coordination of weekly faith formation classes for public school children and children enrolled in the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children for youngsters in Grades 3-5 preparing for sacraments). preparation of second graders and their families for the reception of the sacraments, monthly classes to help prepare new parents for the baptism of their children, coordination of two "Weekends for the Engaged" held annually to help focus and prepare sessions every year for adult faith enrichment, and, of course, the coordination and presentation of the weekly sessions of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).  Most recently, she has joined with Sister Charlene Ozanick of our parish and Sister Carol Kardell from St. Mary of Czestochowa and St. Joseph parishes in New Kensington to offer opportunities for faith enrichment for adults.  Together, with representatives of area parishes, she is also a co-coordinator of the annual summer Vacation Bible School.

A native of New Kensington, Fran is a graduate of Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA.  She is working on her graduate studies in theology at Duquesne University.  Fran and her husband, Dennis, are the parents of Jonathan, Sarah and Marissa.
