The Festa Italiana is an annual celebration to build a sense of community among the members of the parish and to raise funds for needed capital projects in the parish.
In 1981, Father Ginocchi approached a group of young, active men in the parish with the request to establish a parish-wide social event. This group met with other people within the parish and concluded that the parish should have an Italian Festival. The VFW in Lower Burrell was the original site. The festival moved to the parish grounds in 2003. The Festa is held on the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday before the first Sunday of August.
There are 10 members on the steering committee, and an additional 30 parishioners who serve as chairpersons with specific areas of responsibility. During the three days of the festival, there are approximately 200 volunteers participating in this event.
There is a kick off Meeting in March/April followed by committee meetings in June and July and a wrap up meeting in September. Individual chairpersons will meet with their committees throughout May, June and July.
