When & Where

Marble Hall was buzzing with excitement all week while workers prepared for this years Trash & Treasure Sale.  The work begins several days before the sale is open to the public.  Workers arrange the tables and prepare the kitchen for the sale.

As the donations are dropped off in Marble hall, they are sorted, grouped, priced and put into place for 3 days leading up to the sale.  The kitchen was also geared up for the food sales that compliment this sale every year!

The sale was opened to the public on Thursday morning, June 19th, 2008.  When the doors were opened, the line of anxious shoppers lined up at the entrance to Marble Hall.  Some shoppers were looking for treasures, some were looking for bargains and some were looking for that special item they have been trying to find.  Many of the shoppers have been here in the past and look forward to the sale each year.

Donations for this sale come from members of the Mount Saint Peter Church.  Proceeds from this sale benefit the monthly Foodbank.  This event is coordinated and staffed with all volunteer workers from the church.

The yearly sale also includes specialties from the kitchen.  This years sale was no exception.  Food Sales were a big hit again this year.  Who could resist an order of our Famous Fried Dough!!  Thanks again to our dedicated Kitchen Staff for their help in making this event such a bid success.

Many of the volunteer workers donate their time for the whole week. They help prepare, work the days of the sale and help to tear down after the event.  Some of the workers even take vacation from their regular jobs to help out during the sale.  This has been a yearly event for many of them.  We are very lucky to have such dedicated and generous workers!!!

  Preparation Work

Many hours of organization and work go into preparing for this yearly event.  Tables are setup in rows so that items can be grouped and placed for viewing.

Donations items are brought to Marble Hall 3 days prior to the start of the sale.  Volunteer workers sort through the items as they are brought into the church.  Items that
are broken or not ideal for selling are discarded.  The items are then grouped with similar items from other donations, priced and placed on the tables.

We accept all kinds of donations except for clothing, large appliances and large pieces of furniture.  There is always a wide variety of items for sale including jewelry, cups and containers, toys, puzzles, sports items, suitcases, small appliances and small pieces of furniture.  Sale items completely fill the tables inside with larger items on display outside of the entrance to marble hall.

  What Did We Sell?

This years sale was no different than any other year.  Shoppers were able to browse through a large variety of items looking for their treasures.  There were tables full of coffee mugs, glasses, storage containers, utensils, baskets, toys, puzzles, luggage, vases, books and office supplies.

A separate table is setup for displaying Jewelry items.  The workers who take care of the jewelry table have been working the sale for many years.
